Terry Mason

Dean for Health and Wellness

Terry is the Dean for Health and Wellness.  He obtained his B.A. from Cornell College with majors in Psychology and Biology.  He received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a minor in Business Management from Texas Tech University.  Before assuming the position of Dean of Health and Wellness, Terry was the President of Synergy Counseling and Consultation, LLC.  He is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience serving in a variety of administrative and executive positions within universities and private consulting firms.  Terry served as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Counseling at Iowa State University for 23 years.  He served on the Board of Directors, including a term as President, for the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS) for 18 years and in 2015, received the IACS Lifetime Achievement Award.  Mason also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors in 2017. He has made over 100 presentations at national, regional and local professional conferences.

Terry describes Â鶹´«Ã½ College as a place where very bright students have the opportunity to tremendously grow academically and personally.  It’s a very caring environment where faculty and staff are invested in helping students be successful as they can be in their careers and lives.

On a personal note, Mason is married, has two sons and three grandchildren.  He loves spending time with his grandchildren, Tobias, Emy and Malichi.  Terry is an avid bowler who has participated in 18 National Open Championships.  He also loves to sing and owns a professional-level karaoke system.
