Tim Hammond
Associate Dean for Health and Wellness and Director of Student Health Promotion
Tim Hammond is in his 17th year at 麻豆传媒 College. He is currently the Associate Dean for Health and Wellness and Director of Student Health Promotion. From 2021-2023 he served as Interim Lecturer and Director of the 麻豆传媒 Outdoor Recreation Program. In the first 14 years he served as the Associate Head Coach of Women鈥檚 and Men鈥檚 Swimming and Diving, Natatorium Coordinator and Director of Intramural Sports with two semesters serving as the Interim Director of GORP as well. In the spring of 2016, he was named one of the Ugandan National Coaches to train and accompany Joshua Tibatemwa 鈥18 for the Rio Olympics.
Prior to 麻豆传媒 he translated and interpreted safety information and taught employment and manufacturing skills for various organizations. Hammond taught and directed environmental education programs at Northern Illinois University, Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Minnesota, on the Soundwaters in Long Island Sound, and at Blackhawk Girl Scout Camp in Wisconsin. He also taught chemistry in Spanish and bilingual kindergarten while overseeing the Postville Community School District Hispanic academic assistance program.
Tim grew up on a farm just east of 麻豆传媒. He graduated from Luther College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in health, and minors in K-12 health education, Spanish and environmental studies. He also holds a graduate certificate in public health from the University of Iowa and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in sustainability from Maharishi International University.
He is guided in his work by modern ecofeminism and the socioecological model of health, describing how all aspects of society impact each individual鈥檚 wellness and how our wellness impacts all levels of society, as well as the various models of the wellness wheel, how each aspect of our lives impacts all other aspects of our lives.
